Scaling up solar power in the UK with a £825 million portfolio financing

06/05/2026

Societe Generale acted as Underwriter in a senior portfolio financing of up to £825 million secured by Enviromena, one of the UK’s leading solar power developers. Among the largest solar financings completed in the country this year, the transaction will support the rapid delivery of a 1 GW solar pipeline.

As the UK accelerates its transition towards a low‑carbon energy system, large‑scale solar power is playing an increasingly strategic role in strengthening energy security and reducing long‑term costs for consumers. Achieving national climate targets will require rapid deployment of renewable infrastructure, backed by scalable and flexible financing solutions.

Enviromena, a long‑standing player in the UK renewable energy market, has built a strong track record in developing, delivering and operating utility‑scale solar assets. With a growing pipeline across the country, the company is well positioned to support the expansion of domestically generated renewable energy.

A landmark portfolio financing to enable gigawatt‑scale growth

Enviromena has successfully signed an £825 million senior portfolio financing, marking a major milestone in the expansion of its renewable energy platform.

The facility is underwritten by a leading syndicate of international banks, including Societe Generale. An initial £525 million has been committed, providing immediate funding to support the fast‑tracked delivery of a 1 GW solar portfolio across the UK.
Structured as a flexible platform financing, the facility includes a £300 million uncommitted accordion, allowing it to grow in line with the portfolio as projects progress from late‑stage development through construction and into operation. This structure offers Enviromena the agility required to deploy capital efficiently at scale.

With significant and flexible funding secured, the company is positioned to rapidly deploy new solar capacity across the UK. By acting as Underwriter on this transaction, Societe Generale reaffirms its commitment to supporting clients with innovative, scalable financing solutions tailored to large renewable portfolios.

This is a landmark transaction for our business and demonstrates strong momentum in our growth strategy. With this support, we are accelerating the transition from development to delivery, building a gigawatt-scale solar platform to supply homes, businesses, and support the UK’s energy transition. Importantly, this investment contributes directly to the UK’s net zero goals and the urgent need to scale low-carbon energy solutions. Rapid deployment of large-scale solar will be essential to meeting national targets, enhancing energy security, and reducing long-term costs for consumers
