Crypto-asset
What is a crypto-asset?
A crypto asset is a digital representation of value or rights, created and exchanged using distributed ledger technology such as blockchain. These assets rely on cryptography to secure transactions and operate without intermediaries; their value depends solely on supply and demand, without benefiting from legal tender status.
What types of crypto-assets are there?
Crypto assets cover various forms of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies and certain utility tokens. Within this group, stablecoins hold a particular place.
Regulations
In Europe, crypto assets, including stablecoins, are governed by the MiCA Regulation, which defines their legal status, the obligations of issuers, and the rules applicable to crypto asset service providers. In France, these activities are supervised under the PSAN/PSCA framework by the AMF, ensuring a high level of protection and compliance.
