Wei Yao is a specialist in the Chinese economy, and offers unique insights on the local economic development and transition, covering a wide range of industries and sectors.

Prior to joining Societe Generale in 2010, Wei Yao worked as a Research Associate for China-Kuwait Investment Company, based in the Middle East.

A highly acclaimed economist, Wei Yao has been awarded numerous accolades including the top prize in “2012 China Economy Foreast Award” and third prize in “2012 China Economy Forecast Award for Quarterly Forecast” by Capital Week, a reputable business publication in China. She has also been ranked No. 2 in 2012 and 2013 as well as No. 3 in 2014 for macroeconomic research dedicated to China in Bloomberg’s “The World’s Top Forecasters” survey.

Wei Yao was educated at Fudan University in Shanghai, and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Tufts University in the United States.
